Face it, nothing beats a head massage

Face it, nothing beats a head massage

Imagine making head massage a weekly ritual!

Scalp massages are an ancient therapeutic Ayurvedic treatment that has been practiced for over 5000 years. Whilst it promotes hair growth, it also has some powerful health benefits:

  • It stimulates the hair follicles boosting blood flow which promotes healthy hair growth, strength, shine and will leave your hair feeling revitalised
  • It reduces stress and anxiety
  • It relieves emotional stress and tension
  • It realises endorphins (making you feel happier)
  • It promotes improved sleep
  • It relaxes your mind and body
  • It reduces headaches

Try to create a ritual for yourself, find a relaxing place on a given day – the founder usually does this on a Saturday or Sunday morning (depending on when to wash her hair)

Disconnect from the electronic world.

Use this time to massage your hair and scalp, alternatively you can get someone to do this for you (it usually feels a lot better) . Add 2-3 drops of Bumi Botanicals Hair Oil and warm the oil in your hands. Take in the citrus aroma of Neroli and Geranium – this will help reduce the feeling of stress and reduce tension.

Follow with a gentle massage onto your scalp and target areas of concern, leave for a minimum of 30 minutes before washing your hair.

In this time, try to do something relaxing:

  • Go for a mindful walk
  • Read a book
  • Practice yoga
  • Go to a gym class

Once you feel relaxed, massage your hair one more time in the shower before washing this off with your shampoo and conditioner.

Doing this weekly will leave your hair feeling stronger and healthier, it will also allow you to reset over the weekend – allowing you to be present in the moment.

This has been an ongoing ritual in South Asian families – hence the beautiful hair! We just want to share the secret with the rest of the world.
